The new CRYO-QUICK® Z freezer from Air Products is designed to increase food throughput capacity, decrease liquid nitrogen consumption by at least 20 percent and improve food quality. Combining two freezing technologies—the application of liquid nitrogen with indirect heat transfer—the CRYO-QUICK Z system can reduce typical variable costs between 10 and 15 percent versus a conventional cryogenic tunnel freezer, according to Air Products. This technology uses liquid nitrogen to cool a recirculating air stream rather than spraying directly onto the product to be frozen.
