TitanScan's E-beam cold pasteurization facility in Sioux City, IA, is taking shape in anticipation of USDA final ruling on procedures for irradiating ground beef. The facility, built by APA and in alliance with Cloverleaf Cold Storage, has a growing number of meat companies signed on for test marketing. Titan's patented SureBeam electron beam system can effectively eliminate the threat of E.Coli 0157:H7, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella and Campylobacter in food. Its electronic pasteurization process offers a unique end-point, safe treatment for meat products as part of a processor's Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) program. Dual E-beam accelerators positioned above and below the conveyor maximize exposure and depth of treatment. Cloverleaf will provide ancillary services such as refrigerated USDA-approved food staging, storage and processing capabilities as well as logistical support for Titan's system.
