B&R’s 8LSA servo motors include 19-bit encoders to ensure consistent movements and accurate positioning; 25-bit encoders are also available. For high demands, such as those that occur in belt drives, the motors are also available with reinforced bearings to withstand high radial forces. Temperature levels in the motors are monitored with 2 independently functioning systems. A linear temperature sensor in the motors’ winding sends the temperature, measured to the degree, to the higher-level inverter, while a second temperature model in the inverter calculates a virtual motor temperature from the process data. All relevant mechanical and electrical information and data are stored in the encoder, eliminating the need to make settings in the field. The servo motors have CE conformity and the corresponding UL certification.
