ConAgra Foods, Inc. acquired Elan Nutrition, a privately held formulator and manufacturer of snack and nutrition bars based in Grand Rapids, MI.

The National Center for Food Safety and Technology at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) presented its 2010 NCFST Award to Daniel G. Brown, a 37-year veteran of Hormel Foods Corp., at the consortium’s mid-year meeting held in Burr Ridge, IL.

Pepsi Beverages Company, a division of PepsiCo, Inc., and Tampico Beverages, Inc. agreed to distribute TAMPICO PLUS fruit-flavored beverage products via PepsiCo’s direct store delivery system in select US markets. In addition, Pepsi Beverages Company completed its acquisition of Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. of Yuba City, Inc.

Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation announced plans to close its corporate headquarters building in East Texas and a satellite corporate office in Atlanta as part of its continued integration with JBS USA.

Breyers Yogurt Company, LLC appointed James W. Nolan as chief executive officer. He succeeds Chuck Marcy, who left the company to pursue outside interests.

Campbell Soup Company appointed Anthony DiSilvestro to senior vice president-finance, a newly created position with oversight of the company’s controller’s, tax and treasury departments.

Lawrence Foods, Inc., an Illinois-based manufacturer of bakery ingredients, named Rick Broz as its new technical director.

Schwan’s Home Service, Inc. appointed Bob Corscadden as chief marketing officer. He recently served as chief marketing officer of Tyson Foods.

Wegmans launched a fleet of 50 hydrogen fuel cell-powered pallet trucks using Air Products’ hydrogen and hydrogen fueling station technology at its Pottsville, PA warehouse to move produce on a daily basis for shipment to its stores in a five-state area.

Hearthside Food Solutions acquired Consolidated Biscuit Company and the Cereal Division of Golden Temple of Oregon. The combination of the three bakery businesses will create approximately $700 million in total revenue.

McCain Foods Limited announced that Frank van Schaayk, its current president and CEO, has been named Regional CEO and will assume expanded responsibility for McCain South America in addition to his current oversight of McCain Foods USA and the global McDonald’s Business Unit.
