General Mills is spending $100 million to expand its Murfreesboro, TN production facility. The plant, which makes products for General Mills’ Yoplait brand, is expected to create 80 new jobs.

Gem State Processing LLC, owned by Oregon Potato Company, is constructing a new potato dehydration plant in Heyburn, ID. The 130,840-sq.-ft. facility is expected to be complete in nine months and will employ approximately 50 people. The plant will process raw potatoes and reduce them to dehydrated flakes or flour.

Shamrock Foods, a dairy supplier, will open a distribution center in Natomas, CA. The 150,000-sq.-ft. facility is expected to open in 2011.

American Pasteurization Company is expanding its operations to a second location in Evansville, IN. The company, which uses high-pressure pasteurization, has grown from processing 5,000 lbs. per week to more than 700,000 pounds per week.

Planters Company Inc., a Kraft Foods company, received approval for local incentives to build a $20 million expansion at its roasted nut facility in Fort Smith, AK. Before the project can begin, corporate will have to approve the expenditure.

Graeter’s Ice Cream began production at a new $11 million facility in Bond Hill, OH. The company plans to quadruple production to increase its market share in frozen desserts.
