Smart Balance acquired Udi’s Healthy Foods, maker of Udi’s Gluten Free Foods.


RMT Robotics appointed Bill Torrens as director, ADAM Systems Group.


Magnum Systems appointed Debra Weidert as the company’s chief financial officer. Weidert has been with Magnum Systems and its subsidiary, Taylor Products, since 1997.


Zino Lappas was appointed sanitary segment manger for Alfa Laval in the USA. He will be responsible for implementing sales and marketing strategies for fluid handling and heat transfer equipment.


The Hain Celestial Group, Inc. plans to expand its international corporate headquarters with new offices in Lake Success, NY. It will relocate its existing 250 Long Island-based employees and create over 100 new jobs over the next ten years.


Purdue University Calumet named its campus-based, mechatronics laboratory after a husband and wife team, Nick and Nancy Wilson, who have influenced and supported the university’s mechatronics engineering technology program. The new name is The Nick and Nancy Wilson Mechatronics Engineering Technology Laboratory.


Stellar, an architecture, engineering, construction and mechanical services firm, hired six new employees, including five in its food & beverage facility services division and one in its commercial division. The new employees are Jay Frisco, senior design project manager, commercial; Anthony Jarabek, senior project engineer, food & beverage facility services; Michael Murdaugh, senior process engineer, food & beverage facility services; Johnnie Paulus, senior process designer, food & beverage facility services; Freida Speicher, architect, food & beverage facility services; and Leon Williams, architectural intern, food & beverage facility services. 


Innovative Food Holdings, Inc., a marketer and purveyor of gourmet food products throughout the US, acquired Chicago-based Artisan Specialty Foods Inc., a supplier of niche gourmet food products in the Chicago area.


Chad Equipment, LLC, a Birko company, added Chris Duffin to its team as director of engineering.


AMETEK, Inc. completed the acquisition of the parent company of Dunkermotoren GmbH, a provider of advanced motion control solutions for a wide range of industrial automation applications. AMETEK acquired the business from Triton, a European private equity firm for approximately euro 250 million ($320 million).

The rapid expansion of the automation and software technologies sector and its business and economic impact will be the focus of the 27th annual Material Handling & Logistics Conference, September 9 to 12 in Park City, UT. Steve Forbes, chairman of Forbes Media, will serve as the keynote speaker, offering his international insights in the areas of economics, finance and corporate leadership. His presentation will also provide advice on how to grow businesses in challenging economic times and gain a competitive edge in the $156 billion supply chain industry.


Dur-A-Flex, Inc. named Alessandro Machado Jesus as international strategic marketing manager.


Software Toolbox was named Partner of the Year by the Control System Integrators Association (CSIA). The award recognizes the company for significant contributions to the advancement of CSIA and its members. 


Ultrachem, a provider of lubricant solutions, plans to install a new solar photovoltaic system on the roof of its corporate headquarters facility in New Castle, DE. The system will generate enough electricity to serve the facility’s annual needs.

TUEV SUED announced the acquisition of SFDK Laboratorio de Analise de Produtos Ltda (SFDK) in Brazil.


Milk Link and Arla Foods UK have proposed a merger between the two groups. If approved, the deal will create the largest dairy group in the UK with the capacity to process 3 billion liters of milk per year.
