Plant Openings & Expansions: August 2012

Living Essentials LLC plans to expand its Wabash, IN facility, investing $30 million. The company expects to add 1,000,000 sq. ft. in two or three phases.

Kraft Foods plans to invest $10 million to expand its 1 million-sq.-ft. manufacturing plant in Dover, DE.

New Belgium Brewing has selected Perkins+Will as the architect for its first East Coast location in Asheville, NC. The facility will be located on a 17.5-acre brownfield site. Beer production should be online by 2015.

White Castle plans to build a food processing plant in Stonequarry Crossings, OH. The facility will occupy 83,000 sq. ft. on a 17-acre site.

Baker’s Pride, Inc., a commercial bakery and private-label baked goods manufacturer, is expanding doughnut production capabilities and products with a new, high-tech facility at its Mt. Pleasant Street Bakery in Burlington, IA. The 65,000-sq.-ft. facility will produce both frozen ready-to-finish and ready-to-sell doughnuts. Production is expected to begin later this year.

Daniele Foods, an Italian meat processor based in Pascoag, RI, broke ground on a $50 million facility that doubles its production capabilities.

Metro, a major Quebec food processor, held the groundbreaking ceremony for its new produce and dairy products warehouse in Laval’s new industrial park. Projected to cost $49 million, the 241,000-sq.-ft. warehouse will open in March  2013.
