Unique Pretzels Bakery, Inc. broke ground on a new 36,000-sq.-ft. factory and 37,500-sq.-ft. warehouse expansion project in Reading, PA. 
 
Glanbia Nutritionals Ingredient Technologies will build a 40,000-sq.-ft. cereal ingredient processing facility in Sioux Falls, SD. This new location will replace the company’s plant in Angusville, MB, which was destroyed by fire in March 2012. The new facility will produce whole and milled flaxseed ingredients as well as other seed and grain products.
 
Oberto Brands, maker of Oh Boy, Oberto! jerky and other meat snacks, will open a new factory in mid-2013 in Nashville.
 
Ahold USA will invest $63 million to build a new 162,000-sq.-ft. meat processing facility in Cumberland County, PA. It has entered into an agreement with Vantage Foods to run the facility and hire at least 850 new employees. 
 
ConAgra Foods, Inc. announced an estimated $200 million expansion of its Lamb Weston frozen potato facility in Boardman, OR. The project will add a new line to the plant, increasing capacity for making French fries and other frozen potato products. 
 
Protenergy Natural Foods is expanding its US headquarters and manufacturing facility on Maryland’s Eastern Shore by purchasing the 67-acre site and 200,000-sq.-ft. building it currently leases in Cambridge. The processor plans to triple its current workforce of 53.
