Cargill is investing $48 million in a new automated order distribution center in Dodge City, KS. Capable of holding about 155,000 boxes of beef, the new 62,000-sq.-ft. building is expected to be operational by spring 2015.

 

Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation will build a $15 million feed mill in Pinckard, AL. The company also is investing $10 million to renovate its existing Enterprise, AL processing facility.

 

Seattle-based Trident Seafoods Corp. is converting the former Chiquita building in Carrollton, GA into a processing plant. The 104,000-sq.-ft. building will be expanded by 43,000 sq. ft., and is expected to cost about $41 million.

 

Unilever will spend $126 million to increase the size of its margarine and spreads plant in Gardner, KS by 50 percent.

 

Morinaga will build a $49 million  facility in Mebane, NC. The plant will blend syrup, sugar, flavorings and other ingredients to produce soft candy.

 

Jack Daniel Distillery will invest $103 million to expand its Lynchburg, TN distillery operations, adding stills, barrel warehouses and related infrastructure. Construction is expected to be completed within two years.

 

VernDale Products is investing $16 million to convert an abandoned building in Detroit, MI into a second milk production facility. The company produces powdered milk that is used by premium chocolate manufacturers.
