Nestle joins food waste reduction initiative

SAVE FOOD announced Nestle will join the global food waste reduction effort as its 100th industry partner. The initiative of Messe Düsseldorf Group and the Food and Agriculture Association (FAO) of the United Nations seeks to identify specific ways to decrease international food loss in conjunction with industry companies, associations and media.

“Reducing food loss and waste is an important part of the journey to be able to feed 9.6 billion people by 2050. We are delighted to join the SAVE FOOD Initiative as the complex issue of addressing food loss and waste can only be tackled through a holistic and collaborative approach," says Dr. Anne Roulin, Global R&D Sustainability Manager, Nestle. "Nestle is firmly committed to further reducing food loss and waste along the entire production chain from farm to consumers and beyond." FAO estimates that a third of all food is thrown away or lost each year.
