The TOMRA Nimbus free-fall sorter detects the biometric characteristics of objects it scans and compares them to features in its stored database to determine whether they should be accepted or rejected. It sorts by color, structure, size, shape and material type. The ejection system uses an optimal pitch for defect removal; for some applications, a 3-way sort is possible. Applications include a range of nuts and fresh, dried or individually quick-frozen fruit and vegetables.
