Blue Moon, a division of the Molson Coors Brewing Company, is headed north where it will be available in Canada at select restaurants and bars on Aug. 15 and for retail purchase beginning in January 2016.

Since it launched in 1995, the widely recognized wheat beer has seen double-digit growth in the US.

“Blue Moon was inspired by the flavorful Belgian Wits of Belgium, but created with a twist, including using Valencia orange peel, instead of the traditional tart Curaçao orange peel, for a subtle sweetness and with oats added for a creamy, inviting finish,” said Keith Villa, Blue Moon brewmaster. “As a brewmaster and beer lover, I am passionate about exploring and sharing new beer tastes and am excited to help bring this beer to Canadian drinkers.”

Belgian Moon will make its retail debut at beer and liquor locations starting January 15, 2016.

“Introducing this iconic brand to Canada is a significant milestone for both Molson Coors, and our drinkers, whose taste buds continue to evolve,” says Will Meijer, general manager of Molson Coors’ Six Pints specialty beer company.
