Plant of the Year and Sustainable Plant of the Year winners announced
Food Engineering recognizes two outstanding plants
Food Engineering’s 2017 Plant of the Year goes to Abbott Nutrition. The facility, located in Tipp City, Ohio, produces a variety of popular nutritional supplements, including Ensure, PediaSure and Glucerna. The LEED Certified plant employs the highest level of process control and conformance with current Good Manufacturing Practices at every stage of manufacturing and distribution.
Food Engineering names Clif Bar Baking Co. of Twin Falls Sustainable Plant of the Year. This new award recognizes a newly constructed food facility that has went above and beyond to build a food plant focused on reducing, reusing and recycling. The Twin Falls, Idaho bakery uses 100 percent renewable energy and has reduced—compared to most bakeries—its refrigerant emissions by 40 percent, water usage by 37 percent and energy usage by 21 percent.
Food Engineering wants to thank all of the companies and firms that submitted their new plants for review. It was an extremely tough decision, and we are honored to have received all of the excellent nominations.
