Associated Food Stores added a 52,000 sq.-ft. AS/RS cooler to its existing distribution center located in the Salt Lake City vicinity. The addition, designed and constructed by FoodTech Structures, features a four-crane, 60-ft. AS/RS, mezzanine selection, rotating fork cranes, high-volume mixed commodity selection and a special order mini-load system.

Graeter’s plans to build a 28,000 sq.-ft. ice cream plant in the greater Cincinnati area. The $11 million facility is expected to be complete in 2010 and will add 30 new jobs.

Always Bagels will invest $21.5 million in a new bagel bakery in Lebanon County, PA. The 68,000-sq.-ft. facility is expected to create 78 jobs within three years.

Weston Bakeries has completed its $25 million relocation project to 1501 Chevrier Blvd., Winnipeg, Canada.

Garden State Cold Storage’s new 65,000-sq.-ft. refrigerated warehouse was completed in Newark, NJ by FoodTech Structures. The $15 million facility is 70 ft. high and uses Cleco Condor turret truck machines in a narrow aisle configuration.

Empire Merchants North LLC will build a new $27.5 million distribution center in Coxsackie, NY. The 250,000 sq.-ft. facility, to be located in the Kalkberg Commerce Park, also will contain corporate headquarters. The company is expected to consolidate its current locations at this site.
