Plant Openings & Expansions

Kettle Creations, a mashed potato processor, is opening a new facility in Lima, OH. The plant will employ 35 people and is projected to increase to more than 100 personnel in the next two to three years.

Bay Valley Foods, a division of TreeHouse Foods, Inc., expanded its Erie, PA plant that produces pourable salad dressings. The 130,000-sq.-ft. expansion will increase employment from 130 to 190.

The Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. plant in Schulenburg, TX is undergoing a $39.4 million renovation. The project includes expanding the physical space and installing new equipment at the facility. A new packaging line will nearly double the plant’s production capacity. The facility is also upgrading and adding equipment for its wastewater system. Construction began in early May and is slated for completion in early 2010.

Bruce Foods, Wilson NC, is adding 11,000 sq.ft. of manufacturing space and a renewable energy system. A new 6 million-gallon digester is part of the improvements to the plant’s water treatment system and will decrease the need for natural gas.

ConAgra Foods Lamb Weston will construct a large-scale processing facility for frozen sweet potato products near Delhi, LA. The $210 million plant will create 500 to 600 full-time jobs when the first phase (2010) and second phase (2014) are completed. The facility will process Louisiana sweet potatoes into sweet potato fries with plans to process additional products.
