Cloverleaf Cold Storage Company’s Farmers Produce division will begin offering processing and packaging operations at its Sanford, NC facility. Farmers Produce will occupy a new 40,000-sq.-ft. facility to be built adjacent to the existing Cloverleaf freezer warehouse. The space will contain cells for controlled temperature defrosting using both air and water methods. There will also be lines for boxing, trimming and inspecting raw meat as well as specialized packaging and pre-pricing of finished goods.

Abbot Laboratories is building a new $270 million plant in Tipp City, OH. With construction expected to be completed in late 2013, the facility will produce Ensure and Glucerna.

PepsiCo and German dairy company Theo Müller created a joint venture called Wave Holdings and plan to build a yogurt facility in Batavia, NY. Cost of the facility is projected at $206 million.

Michigan Turkey Producers Co-Op, Inc. will expand its facility at Chicago Drive SW in Wyoming, MI and add machinery to the Hall St. SW location. Both projects represent a $13 million investment.

Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc. is making improvements to its Dakota City, NE beef plant. The multi-million dollar project will upgrade or replace parts of the plant that were originally built almost 50 years ago, including state-of-the-art process and technology to benefit animal handling, food safety, meat quality and workplace safety.
