FSIS to hold teleconference today on “hold and test” for meat products

USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) will hold a teleconference to discuss a new policy requiring producers to hold shipments of non-intact raw beef, intact products intended for non-intact use and all ready-to-eat meat and poultry products until they pass testing for foodborne adulterants. The rules require importers of record to maintain ownership of the products until negative results are received for Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella. The teleconference will be held on Feb. 7 from 2 to 3 pm EST. To call in, dial (888) 858-2144 and enter participant pass code 5277207.
