Plant Openings & Expansions: August 2013

Sour cream manufacturer Daisy Brand plans to locate a third production plant in Wooster, OH. Construction is slated to start late this year, with production beginning late in 2015. The facility will occupy 200,000 sq. ft.

Brown-Forman plans to invest $35 million in expanding its bourbon distillery operations at the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, KY. The expansion will include new bourbon maturation warehouses, stills and bottling line improvements.

Angel’s Share Brands is building a new distillery in Louisville, KY, which will produce Angel’s Envy bourbon and related products. The company expects to create 40 new jobs with a $12 million investment.

Blue Diamond opened its new almond plant in Turlock, CA. The 200,000-sq.-ft. facility represents half of a three-phased enhancement project scheduled to be completed over the next 10 years.

Commonwealth Dairy completed its US packaged yogurt facility expansion project in Brattleboro, VT. The $12 million project includes the addition of 23,000 sq. ft. in new facilities and improvements in processing, packaging and wastewater treatment.

Tankersley Foodservice Inc. of Van Buren, AK is beginning a $4 million expansion to its distribution center.

Taylor Farms will invest $5.9 million to expand its Smyrna, TN fresh fruits and vegetables produce farm.
