Plant Openings and Expansions: November 2013

Flowers Baking Company of Henderson, NV will begin production this year. The bakery was closed in November 2012 when Old HB (formerly Hostess Brands) began liquidation. Flowers acquired the Henderson bakery and other former Hostess assets in July 2013.

 

Cargill completed a rebuilding and expansion project at its oilseed processing plant in West Fargo, ND. The facility processes canola and sunflower seeds.

 

Danone Canada is investing $40 million for the production of its Oikos Greek yogurt at its headquarters and dairy plant in Boucherville, Quebec.

 

Nature Food Products of Modesto, CA plans to build a $20 million pork processing plant in Box Elder County, UT.

 

Sanderson Farms, Inc. will build a poultry complex in Palestine, TX. The complex will process 1.25 million chickens per week.

 

Starbucks celebrated the opening of its new 264,000-sq.-ft. Evolution Fresh juice production plant in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. The $70 million facility uses high-pressure pasteurization.

 

Isernio’s Sausage Company announced its expansion into a new 27,750-sq.-ft. production facility in Kent, WA.

 

 Bob Evans is closing its Richardson, TX plant, transferring some sausage production to the company’s Xenia, OH plant. Bob Evans will spend $14 million to equip its sausage plants in Xenia and Hillsdale, MI to handle the increased volume.
