Nearly $100 million is being spent by Tyson Foods to renovate the former Oscar Mayer plant in Sherman, TX. The plant will be transformed into Tyson's largest case-ready operation, producing pre-packaged cuts of fresh beef and pork. Initial operations are expected to begin in early 2006.

SunOpta Inc. opened a 45,000-sq.-ft. office and warehouse adjoining its aseptic plant in Alexandria, MN, consolidating warehouses previously located at five regional facilities. The company also added aseptic processing and packaging capacity to that site.

Lumberg, a manufacturer of connectors, interconnect systems and application tooling, is doubling the manufacturing capacity at its corporate headquarters and production facility in Midlothian, VA.

A new $4 million, 32,000-sq.-ft. facility was opened by Chef John Folse & Co. in Donaldsonville, LA. The factory will employ 100 people and produce more than 50 million pounds of 100 soups, sauces, vegetables, entrees, desserts and dry mixes for more than 60 foodservice distributors, retailers and chain restaurants each year.
