Southwest Cheese Co. is nearing completion of a new cheese production facility in Clovis, NM.

Southwest Cheese Co., a joint venture between Glanbia Foods, Select Milk Producers and Dairy Farmers of America, is nearing completion of a new cheese production facility in Clovis, NM. The facility will employ 205 workers when in full production. Production will begin in late 2005, with full production starting in 2006.



Bar-S Food Co.'s $40 million, Altus, OK, production facility expansion project is nearing completion. The facility was expanded by 60 percent and will have a weekly lunchmeat capacity in excess of 1.6 million pounds. At the same time, the company is building a new 25,000-sq.-ft. corn dog manufacturing addition. The new facility will be capable of producing 20 million pounds of corn dogs annually with the potential to double capacity.

J. Rettenmaier USA is building a $23 million dietary oat fiber plant in Cedar Rapids, IA. The plant will initially employ 26 workers and will convert oat hulls to oat fiber. The two-story plant will house production, packaging and warehousing, as well as office space. Production is expected to begin by the end of this year.

Ocean Nutrition Canada Ltd., a Canadian supplier of MEG-3 brand Omega-3 EPA/DHA food and dietary supplement ingredients, purchased an existing facility in Arcadia, WI, and is upgrading the plant to create a food ingredient production facility to meet US demand for food products containing Omega-3 from fish oil.

MeadWestvaco Packaging Systems increased the operating capacity of its facility in Roosendall, Netherlands, with the installation of a KBA offset press, which is part of the company's $150 million converting investment initiative.
