Sealed Air’s Cryovac packaging unit provides a shelf-stable, flexible alternative to cans and refrigerated pouches with its Flavour Mark retort pouches. The pouches are said to provide better, more consistent flavor and texture than food packaged in #10 cans. Due to the pouch’s lower profile, food does not take as long to heat in a flexible pouch as it does in a can, and therefore endures less heat abuse during the retort process. The pouches can hold 16-oz. to 128-oz. and offer nearly 100 percent product yield for foods such as chili with meat, stews, soups, vegetables and sauces. Flavour Mark pouches are composed of a multilayer, coextruded film for products that require thermal processing after packaging to achieve shelf stability. The film also provides secure, high-integrity seals to withstand the rigors of rough handling during distribution.
