The US Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics released its updated consumer price index Wednesday, indicating the cost of food increased 0.3 percent in September and is up 3 percent in the past 12 months.
In all, the consumer price index increased 0.1 percent in September with the rising cost of shelter and food outweighing declines in the cost of energy.
