Coca-Cola most popular non-alcoholic beverage brand, while V8 boasts the most buzz

Market research firm YouGov released this year's rankings, which also showed some recovery among the energy drink category.

According to a new report from market research firm YouGov, 28 percent of Americans ages 18 and up purchased Coca Cola in the past 30 days. That makes it the most popular non-alcoholic US beverage brand, ahead of Pepsi, Diet Coke, Folgers and V8.

V8, however, led the firm's "buzz" scoring, which determines a score by subtracting overall negative from overall positive feedback. Coca Cola, Ocean Spray, Gatorade and Folgers rounded out the top 5 buzz scores.

Starbucks Doubleshot Energy+Coffee, Red Bull, Starbucks Doubleshot and NOS were energy drink brands that saw the most improvement in buzz scores after having taken a hit when 2012 reports linked 5 Hour Energy drinks to several deaths.
