An overwhelming majority of consumers continue to purchase private label food brands, but concerns about the safety and quality of the foods they eat linger, according to a recent report.
Trace One, a global leader in private brand product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions and transparency software, announced the results of its “Global Consumer Food Safety and Quality” research. The survey of more than 3,000 shoppers across nine countries found that 95 percent of consumer purchase private label food brands, though only 12 percent of the consumers surveyed said that they wholeheartedly trust the safety of the private and National food brands they consume and only 10 percent wholeheartedly trust the quality. In addition, more than a quarter (27 percent) of respondents said they do not trust the information on food product labels.
