Associated Milk Producers Inc. has announced a recall of dry whey powder due to the potential for Salmonella contamination.
The powder was packaged in 50-pound and 25-kg bags at the cooperative's Blair, Wis., dry whey plant. The products were produced from May 1-5, May 24-29, June 2-5, and June 7-14. All products shipped to the marketplace tested negative for Salmonella, but additional product tested positive. Production has been halted at the plant while AMPI investigates the cause of the positive samples.
