Siemens Energy & Automation Inc.’s new line of NEMA Premium efficient motors with aluminum rotors help customers meet the year 2010 mandatory efficiency requirements of the 2007 Energy Independence & Security Act. Equipped with aluminum rotors, NEMA Premium offers the same horsepower and rugged housing as Siemens’ copper rotor-based motors while also meeting the efficiency requirements of many states’ utility rebate programs. Designed for original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and other customers, the new motors provide a lower cost motor that is energy efficient. They are available in general purpose, severe duty, IEEE 841, modified and custom-built motor configurations.
