Plant Openings & Expansions



Bongards’ Creameries purchased Land O’ Lakes’ Perham, MN, cheese manufacturing facility. Terms of the sale were not disclosed. Located near Minneapolis, MN, Bongards’ is a dairy cooperative of farmers.

A manufacturer of natural and organic food products based in Petaluma, CA, Interpac Technologies, Inc. leased 200,000-sq. ft. in Woodland, CA, near Sacramento. Interpac’s distribution function is currently operational with targeted co-packing manufacturing operations to be added in the next few years.

The Stellar Group is constructing a new expansion for Sheetz Distribution Services, a distributor for the 280-location convenience store chain Sheetz. By increasing its existing 310,000-sq. ft. distribution center by 55,000-sq. ft., Sheetz will add 35 offices, 85 workstations, two training centers, and a 25,000-sq. ft. freezer.

American Peanut Growers, LLC, a cooperative of 61 peanut producers, is constructing a $14 million shelling plant on a 45-acre site in Donalsonville, GA. The plant will process 60,000 tons of peanuts annually with future capacity of 90,000 tons.

Suitt Construction Co., Greenville, SC, will manage the expansion of a two-story, 65,000-sq. ft. Bell & Evans poultry processing plant in Fredericksburg, PA. Scheduled for completion in May 2004, the $10 million project includes additions for cut-up, evisceration, air-chill, and processing.

A manufacturer of milk protein powder, Euro Proteins relocated its manufacturing, warehouse and office building to a new 34,000-sq. ft. facility in Wapakoneta, OH.

Based in Boise, ID, WinCo Foods, Inc. is planning to build a new massive food storage and distribution center in California. The company operates 36 stores in California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington, and is the largest minority employee-owned company in the Pacific Northwest.

Tenergy Water, New Britain, CT, will design, build and install a water treatment system for Pepsi-Cola & National Branding Beverages Limited of Pennsauken, NJ. The $600,000 project to expand and modernize Pepsi’s water treatment system is expected to be complete this Fall.
