Mechanically
complete in January, Tate & Lyle’s Splenda facility in Singapore has begun
its 12-18 month ramp up to full capacity. The $300 million plant is the
company’s largest investment in Asia. Tate & Lyle also
operates a Splenda facility in Alabama.
Davisco Foods, which currently processes 3 million pounds of milk per day, will
boost milk throughput at its Lake Norden, SD, factory by 1.5 milllion pounds of
milk per day with the addition of a milk ultra-filtration membrane plant. The second phase of its expansion has a capital
investment of $10 million.
According to The Indianapolis Star, ConAgra will be closing its Reddi-Wip plant
in Holland, MI and moving production
facilities to Indianapolis. The Indianapolis facility is refrigerated,
and two Reddi-Wip lines are expected to be up and running in August.
Starbucks announced the location of its fifth roasting plant, near Columbia, SC. Construction of the
150,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to begin by the end of this year.
Operations are expected to begin in early 2009.
When complete, the plant is expected to create around 160 jobs.
