Plant Openings & Expansions

US Foodservice Inc. plans to invest $100 million in capital projects to expand its operations. It will build a new 256,000-sq.-ft. food distribution facility on 36 acres in Ogden, UT. The facility will be in operation in late 2008. In Boca Raton, FL, it will add 123,000-sq.-ft. to its existing facility for a total of 300,000-sq.-ft. Construction is expected to be completed in 18 months. In Plymouth, MN, the company will add 100,000-sq.-ft. to its existing facility to allow for expansions of its dry warehouse, refrigerated dock space and freezer.

Provesta Flavor Ingredients, a subsidiary of ABF Ingredients, began a series of expansions to its manufacturing facility in Boyceville, WI, at a cost of about $4.5 million. The Boyceville facility processes food grade Torula yeast cream into high nucleotide products. The company also is building a 50,000-sq.-ft. warehouse in Boyceville at an estimated cost greater than $1.5 million.

Premium Waters Inc. (Douglass, GA) will double the size of its 100,000-sq.-ft. operation to 200,000-sq.-ft. to accommodate blow-molding operations, offices and four production lines. The expansion is expected to cost $30 million and add 100 jobs over the coming three years.

Lindt USA has completed construction of its multi-million dollar expansion project, adding 300,000-sq.-ft. of space to its facility. The expansion is expected to create hundreds of local jobs. The additional space will be used for production and storage.
