GE says its UltraStart T8 and T5 program-start ballasts enable manufacturers to extend lamp life in frequently switched applications (five or more switches per day) and keep maintenance costs down while using occupancy sensors and daylight harvesting to save energy and comply with emerging energy laws. The company says the product mimics instant-start ballasts, but improves lamp life 50% or more at 12 or more starts per day.
