FDA to study new caffeinated products

FDA released a statement saying it will take a “fresh look at the potential impact that the totality of new and easy sources of caffeine may have on health,” particularly in vulnerable populations such as children and the elderly. The statement, from Deputy Commissioner for Foods and Veterinary Medicine Michael R. Taylor, was provided in response to the launch of a new caffeinated chewing gum product from Wrigley’s.
