Three samples of beef burger product made by UK catering supplier The Burger Manufacturing Company (BMC) tested positive for at least one percent horse meat, leading the company to recall the products. Tests were carried out by a county council as part of the request by the UK’s Food Standards Agency for all beef products to undergo authenticity testing. The samples will undergo further testing for bute and to determine the amount of horse meat present.
