USDA opens export markets for hatching eggs, day-old chicks, dairy cattle and pears

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) announced recent efforts to expand exports of US cattle, poultry products and pears by over $85 million annually. Opening export markets in Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia to US day-old chicks and hatching eggs is expected to increase exports by $25 million per year, while dairy cattle exports to Iraq could bring in more than $60 million. APHIS will work with producers to ensure that exports meet all requisite foreign standards.
