FDA is seeking public comment on “Pilot Projects for Improving Product Tracing along the Food Supply System”, a report from the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT). IFT was asked to carry out pilot product tracing projects in 2011 in accordance with Section 204 of FSMA. The pilot programs are designed to explore and demonstrate ways to rapidly and effectively trace food, including useful data for tracing, the best ways to connect various points in the supply chain and how quickly data can be made available to FDA. IFT’s report also contains its recommendations for FDA on improving food track and trace. Read the report here, and submit comments here under docket number FDA-2012-N-1153.
