K-Tron Process Group’s ActiFlow smart bulk solids activator reliably prevents uneven flows of cohesive bulk materials in stainless steel hoppers. The device is a non-product contact device, consisting of a vibratory drive and intelligent control unit. In applications involving difficult flowing materials, the unit eliminates the need for mechanical agitators with secondary motors and gearboxes, as well flexible side-wall agitation devices or aeration pads. The self-tuning algorithm implemented in the control module monitors the system continuously, adjusting the frequency and amplitude of the activator to maintain flow within the hopper, preventing the formation of bridges and rat-holes. Working in concert with the company’s smart force transducer weigh scales, advanced filtering algorithms screen out vibrations, ensuring an accurate weight signal even with the unit running.
