Matthews Marking Products has two new inkjet systems for marking and coding directly on porous materials, such as paper and cardboard: the entry-level SX7/16 and the high-resolution IP 7000. The SX 7, for single line printing, and SX 16, for two lines, use Drop-on-Demand valve inkjet technology and are capable of operating in challenging industrial environments where vibration and dust can interfere. Character size ranges from 0.5 in. to 1.5 in. and the system can print on top or sides of cartons.  The high-end, non-contact IP 7000 printer can print up to 32 lines of text, logos, scannable bar codes and other symbols at 200 dpi horizontal/187 dpi vertical, operating at line speeds up to 4.6 ft./sec.
