An FDA study of food industry HACCP programs singled out seafood processors for special praise. The agency report says the industry has made significant progress in implementing HACCP over the last two years.

For each of the four years that FDA has been measuring HACCP implementation, the number of firms with no significant violations has increased, while the number of firms with violations warranting correction has decreased.

Kenny Lum, Vice President of the National Food Processors Association Center for Northwest Seafood says the report shows that many firms have been correcting their deficiencies voluntarily, and that firms with no significant violations now constitute the largest group of inspected facilities.
