Sonoco developed a new panel-less retort bottle that is suitable for shelf-stable low-acid, dairy-based beverages and ready-to-drink coffees. The retort bottle protects the product inside from oxygen, can withstand the retort sterilization process without the internal panels or ribs found in other retort bottles and is said to keep the contents shelf-stable at ambient conditions. Sonoco's new plastic retort bottle is round and smooth-walled, which eliminates wrinkled shrink-sleeve labels. The bottle also has an easy-open and re-close induction seal closure. It is available in a variety of colors as well as a transparent panel-less retort bottle that provides clarity when filled.
