The L-Cell, a bolt-on sensor traditionally used on skirted silos, can now be applied to legged vessels to create an accurate and affordable weighing system. The palm-sized L-Cell is attached to the support structure of a vessel (vertical legs, horizontal supports, and skirts) and utilizes its dual strain gages to measure the weight of material in the vessel. An L-Cell weighing system is ideal for retrofitting existing vessels without taking the vessel out of service and thereby losing valuable production time. As weight is added to or removed from a vessel, its support structure experiences strain changes proportional to the material weight changes. The L-Cell weight sensor detects these strain changes and produces a proportional electrical output.
