The Extrud-O-Mix model EM-2 from Hosokawa Bepex is a low-pressure mixing and forming extruder that can form 0.5- to 6.0-mm diameter extrusions or continuously mix pastry materials from 20,000 to 2 million centipoise. Features include sectioned interchangeable mixing elements and housing, power, temperature and pressure profiling. PLC logic controls in combination with a touchscreen HMI provide data acquisition. The company says low throughputs, in the range of 5 to 30 kg/hr, allow scaleable studies with new formulations or high-value raw materials. Package options include integrated liquid dosing, jacketed extruder housings and remotely located drive components.
