The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is proposing amendments to the National Poultry Improvement Plan.
The National Poultry Improvement Plan, or NPIP, is a joint effort between the federal government, state governments and the poultry industry to control certain poultry diseases. The plan identifies flocks, hatcheries and slaughter plants, among other entities, that meet disease control standards specified in the plan’s programs. Participation is voluntary, but breeding flocks, hatcheries and dealers must first qualify as “US Pullorum-Typhoid Clean” before joining the program.
