Milk from cloned cows under discussion

FDA is currently debating whether to allow milk from cloned cows into the marketplace. Fearing an adverse consumer reaction, dairy processors are urging FDA to keep its present moratorium in place. In comments filed with FDA, the International Dairy Foods Association warned the introduction of milk from clones could result in a 15% drop in milk consumption. The public comment period closed May 3.



Just say no to biofuels?

Food industry representatives in Washington have expressed concern over proposed legislation to increase biofuels production. Cal Dooley, CEO of the Grocery Manufacturers Association, said the mark-up of the  Biofuels for Energy Security and Transportation Act of 2007 (S.987) might take too much of the nation’s grain supply for motor fuels use.
