Omron Electronics’ E2F-D proximity sensor is mounted in a special plastic housing that features an anti-bacterial additive to help reduce the risk of contamination during processing operations. The FDA-approved additive is effective against a range of bacteria, fungi, algae and viruses, says the company. The M12 models have a sensing distance of 4 mm and M18 models have a distance of 8 mm. The sensors are available in long- and short-barrel versions, with NPN or PNP output in NO or NC configurations.
