It turns out consumers really do have trouble removing those little seals on top of things like ketchup bottles. A new study has shown that shoppers would actually take into account a product’s seal if an easier-to-remove option were featured on the product labeling. And, specifically, more than a third of consumers say they would switch from their usual products to a brand that used Selig’s Lift ‘n’ Peel range of induction seals, if given the choice.
Research participants were given four different containers—two with Lift ‘n’ Peel liners featuring a pull-up tab and two with standard liners. They were then asked to list their biggest packaging concerns, which amounted to five characteristics: safety, freshness, leak prevention, convenience and simple opening. Respondents preferred the Lift ‘n’ Peel option overall and in each of the five categories noted as the most important in packaging.
