The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is proposing amendments to the federal meat inspection regulations to establish a new inspection system for swine.
The new regulations would apply to hog slaughter establishments that have demonstrated they provide public health protection at least equivalent to the existing systems. These establishments would still be allowed to operate under their existing inspection system.
