Plant Openings & Expansions

Horizon Milling G.P., a partnership formed by Cargill and CHS, plans to construct a new flour mill in Guelph, Ontario. The facility is expected to be open in the next three years and will be built on a 27-acre site Horizon Milling recently purchased. The new facility will primarily serve Horizon Milling’s food processing customers in the southwestern Ontario market. 

Upstate Niagra Cooperative, Buffalo, bought the recently closed-down North Lawrence, NY Breyers yogurt plant and reopened the facility after installing new equipment and hiring new employees. The new dairy, known as North County Dairy LLC, began production in October 2011 and is operating two yogurt lines. <br>

Au’some LLC, a Hong Kong candy company, located a production facility in Sumter County, SC. The $6 million investment is expected to produce 120 new jobs over the next five years. The 100,000-sq.-ft. facility will produce Florida’s Natural brand Nuggets and 3-Dees Gummies. 

A 160,000-sq.-ft. sustainable plant expansion at General Mills’ Albuquerque, NM facility was awarded the US Green Building Council’s LEED Gold certification. This is the first General Mills’ production facility to earn LEED certification.

Mars Petcare plans to expand its Columbia, SC production facility. The $128 million project is expected to add 250 jobs over the next five years as the additional 290,000-sq.-ft. space becomes fully functional.
