Plant Openings & Expansions: September 2012

McCall Farms, Inc. announced expansion plans for its manufacturing facility in Florence County, SC. This includes a capital investment of $10.6 million, more than 50,000 sq. ft. of new space for production capacity and 24-hour-a-day operation. The expansion is scheduled for completion in October. 
 
Molson Coors completed a new, flexible packaging line valued at $13.5 million at its Toronto, ON brewery. The facility will enable the production of new packaging formats, such as wide-mouth aluminum bottles. 
 
PepsiCo and Theo Müller Group will build a new joint-venture yogurt manufacturing facility in upstate New York. The first phase of the 350,000-sq.-ft. Muller Quaker Dairy facility is expected to be completed in 2013.
 
Quality Ingredients Corporation is expanding its certified spray-dry operation for food ingredients at its Burnsville, MN plant. The project will double the company’s spray-dry capacity in 6,000 sq. ft. of floor space.
 
White Castle plans to open a new frozen food manufacturing plant next year in Vandalia, OH. The first phase of construction is expected to cost $18 million, provide 75,000 sq. ft. of floor space and open next summer. 
 
A M King Construction is providing design-build services for Aldi, Inc.’s new distribution facility in Royal Palm Beach, FL. The project will total 650,000 sq. ft., including 175,000 sq. ft. to handle perishable products.
