W. Anthony (Tony) Vernon

John B. Sanfilippo & Son named Robert J. Sarlls as vice president, strategy and business development.

Kraft Foods Inc. appointed W. Anthony (Tony) Vernon as president, Kraft Foods North America. Vernon joins Kraft Foods from private equity firm Ripplewood Holdings, following a successful career at Johnson & Johnson. He will report to Chairman and CEO Irene Rosenfeld.

Dean Foods Co. completed the acquisition of the Alpro division of Vandemoortele N.V. for a transaction price of approximately €325 million. Alpro is a European producer of soy-based beverage and food products with net sales of approximately €260 million in 2008 sold under the Alpro soya and Provamel brands.

James P. Dollive joins The Schwan Food Company as executive vice president of finance and chief financial officer.

Cargill will assume full ownership of NatureWorks LLC, as part of Teijin Limited’s general portfolio restructuring in response to the global economic downturn. Previously a 50-50 joint venture, NatureWorks now is an independent company wholly owned by Cargill. NatureWorks makes bio-based plastics.

Campbell Soup Company’s board of directors elected Nick Shreiber, retired chief executive officer of Tetra Pak Group, to the board.

CEM Corp. won a 2009 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award in the Greener Reaction Conditions category for its Sprint rapid protein analyzer. The analyzer’s technology replaces the Kjeldahl test, which uses hazardous chemicals for protein determination.

Mitsuko (Mich) Mizushima joined TranSysetms as vice president of business development for its San Francisco office and in support of the firm’s management and supply chain consulting group.
