It is not too late for "very small" meat and poultry processors to receive help implementing HACCP before the January 2000 deadline. USDA awarded grants to five universities that offer models, technical training and information to plants with fewer than 10 employees, or less than $2.5 million in sales. Grant recipients are Ohio State University (Columbus), University of Tennessee Inst. of Agriculture (Knoxville), Penn State University (Harrisburg), Southern University and A&M College (Baton Rouge, LA), and Iowa State University (Ames).
